New York State Swim Commission

The New York State Swim Commission was formed to help run the New York State YMCA Swimming Championships. The members are elected by the coaches of the participating YMCAs. Each coach can be a member of the organization. If requested by a league or individual YMCA, the committee will help solve any problems that may occur. Each area of the state has a representative on the committee.

2025–2026 Season Announcement - The 2025–2026 YMCA swimming season is officially underway! Across New York, YMCA swim teams are growing, new athletes are joining, and returning swimmers are building on last season’s success. The Commission has been hard at work preparing for another exciting year of competition, connection, and community.

State Championships - This year’s New York State YMCA Swimming Championships will be held at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, NY, from March 20–22, 2026. We’re thrilled to bring the State Championships to this world-class facility—one of the top aquatic venues in the country and home to numerous national and international meets.

Updated Rules for the 2025/26 State Meet - As we approach the 2025/26 State Meet, there will be some important updates to the competition rules. While the time standards for the meet will remain the same as last season, there are other changes to the format and guidelines. Resources and Support

The Commission continues to provide guidance, meet support, and development opportunities for YMCA swim teams across New York State. Our website features championship information, results, and resources for any YMCA interested in expanding or starting a competitive program.

Our Shared Commitment

YMCA competitive swimming continues to embody our organization’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Through teamwork, dedication, and healthy competition, our athletes develop confidence, character, and lifelong friendships.

As we move into this new season, we encourage every YMCA team, athlete, coach, and volunteer to take pride in being part of a community united by the water. Together, we’ll continue to strengthen and grow YMCA swimming across New York State.

Sincerely,

Thomas W. Cohill
